This 19th century handcrafted brass hand warmer. This would have been owned by a woman of means and filled with coals so she could warm her hands on cold winter nights. The top is beautifully pierced with a flying insect and floral pattern. The pierced top is designed to let heat waft over cold hands, adding texture and dimension to this sculptural object. Made circa late 1800s, early 1900s. It measures 11” in diameter, 6” tall without handle, and 10” tall with handle. Original paper tag on inside. Preowned an in overall great condition with normal signs of use. I have not attempted to polish this item.
