Artist Bio:
ROBERT HEINDEL (1938-2005)
Artist Robert Heindel's work is often more recognizable than his name. Born in 1938, he combined his natural skill with expert training at the Famous Artist's School in Connecticut to become one of the world's most renowned painters and illustrators of the 20th century. In addition to creating illustrations for Time magazine and Sports Illustrated, his life's work is also commemorated in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. Robert Handel prints and originals are highly prized by collectors across the globe.
However, Robert Heindel is an artist most recognized for his sketches and paintings of dancers. He began to shift in this direction after reluctantly attending a ballet recital with his wife. Famous Robert Heindel paintings of this type include Rehearsal Studio, Royal Ballet, and Dance Macabre.
