Text on Back Cover:
Rocky DeLaurentis has written numerous and humorous articles for newspapers, magazines, fraternal organizations, and industrial groups. They are no less hilarious or uproarious than the humor-packed sequences of Laughing & Griping with the 97th Seabees. In fact, his previous articles, along with his formal training in journalism, seasoned him well to prepare the real-life comedic vignettes about Seabee laughs and laughter during World War II. If you asked Rocky what his life was all about, he would tell you that he was born and raised in Shelton, Connecticut; ran track at Shelton High School; was a florist (as was his dad); did his depression years with the Civilian Conservation Corps on a surveying crew; joined the navy to become a machinist and, because he failed the color test, was placed with the Seabees. He would also tell you that he owns and operates a ship balancing shop (balanced the Queen of England's yacht, Britannia)' has a daughter named Robin; that he never bothered to get a degree (although he matriculated endlessly at the local community colleges). Then, Rocky might tell you the latest joke and walk away leaving you laughing, What else? That's Rocky!
